Description:

Japan bronze Koro censer Shishi lion sculpture 1880 lost wax craft.

Japanese Shishi lion sculpture, Koro censer lost wax technique craft, hammered details, inner lost wax earth mold still visible inside. The burning incense is places under the ball like support (a small ash plate will be necessary if used as censer). Expressive lion dog house protector. Makers chiseled name: 秀山 (Shuzan). Good conditions, some wear from long usage and time. Usable in its current conditions with lacquered wood vase.

Period: 1880 - 1920 Meiji - Taisho era

Dimensions: Height: 18.5 cm (approx. 7.3 inches), Length: 21.0 cm (approx. 8.3 inches), Weight: 5.08 kg (11.2 lbs / 179.2 ounces) + wrapping.

Conditions: good, Completely intact with smooth seating between the head and body. Shows a deep authentic patina and minimal age-appropriate interior residue, please see photos.
