Fine Japanese Aka-Shino Ochawan tea bowl, red-pink natural enamel with deep shadows, master craft fine art Ochawan, modern Japan art. Fine craft hand made, perfectly fitting and nice touch sense on the hand. (紅志野茶碗).
- Visual & Technical AnalysisThe Glaze (Yūmaku): The bowl features a classic snowy-thick, feldspathic Shino glaze that has taken on a rich salmon-pink/orange hue due to the iron-rich underglaze or clay body (gaiome clay).
- Surface Texture (Yuzuhada): The heavy pitmarks resemble the skin of a citron (yuzu), which is a highly desired characteristic in Shino ware. The deep crawis (crazing lines) reveal dark, iron-rich undercurrents beneath the glaze melt.
- The Base (Kodai): Looking at the bottom of the bowl, the foot is cleanly cut in a circular kodai shape, leaving the coarse, sandy earthenware exposed.The Maker's Mark: There is a distinct, sharp incised potter's mark (kaō or gō) on the unglazed base that resembles a stylized character "N or 2" a;sp reported on wood box (probably an inventory number of previous owner collector).
Complete with its custom-fitted Kiri (paulownia) wood box to regulate humidity and a vibrant Shifuku (silk storage pouch) decorated with a rich, multi-colored floral and peacock-feather-style textile pattern to protect the glaze from scratches.
Very good conditions, immediately usable.
