Description:

Antique big Shoin Buddhist shrine altar 1902 Japane temple Kobo Daishi.

Antique Buddhist shrine with antique wood carved monk master statue (Kobo Daishi). Shrine structure in good conditions, some wear from long usage. The wood carved  statue seems older from the aging of the surface, it probably stood exposed in open air and placed in the shrine at a later date as indicated on silk inscription with patron name and date 1903. Monk pigment better preserved on back side, glass eyes.  Over all well preserved Zen Buddhist shrine. Immediately usable.

Period: from shrine base inscription May 1902, monk statue mid 1800s Meiji era.

Dimensions: shrine H 110 cm, W 57 cm. Statue H 34 cm, total  weight 17.510 Kg + wrapping

Conditions:  good, some wear marks from long usage and handling, please see photos.
