Antique Japanese wood carving of Ebisu deity prosperity divinity, from a monumental statue once standing in a temple gate way in Sekigahara area. Very expressive head with anatomical details, double life size proportions, original pigment preserved with wear from time and long exposure. Made of 2 wood blocks held together with metal grips. Inner side carved and most probably once holding the Nafuda (good auspicious scroll with makers and donors details). Nice patina, historical monumental Japanese sculpture, please see photos.
